Calling All Language Students: Extra - Review

I would recommend Extra to all language learners.

When it came to study leave, this was my saviour.

As a German GCSE student, I would watch Extra with lunch while on study leave in order to improve my German listening for the exam. Instead, I became slightly addicted.

The show is excellent, with characters from all walks of life. It was wonderful, watching them and their relationships develop, and you can become strangely attached.

The series is set up to be a sitcom with a similar feel to the American comedy F.R.I.E.N.D.S. This could not be clearer through the romances and relationships between the characters.

The best part of the show is absolutely the characters, because they were so likeable and loveable, which made revising for language GCSEs more entertaining.

Other than being hilarious, Extra is also perfect for its purpose: to learn other languages.

The series is perfect for those who are at the end of the GCSE course. Naturally, there were times when it was more difficult to understand, but overall, I would say this was challenging enough without being impossible.

Would I watch it again? Absolutely.
